History of the Apple iPad
The Apple iPad became the definitive entrant into the tablet market upon its introduction on January 27, 2010. Lighter than a laptop and featuring a large multitouch display, the iPad made an instant impact on the market, selling nearly 15 million in eight months and rocketing to a 75% share in the tablet PC category.
With a 10 hour battery life, the original Apple iPad featured 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models, as well as an option to use it anywhere with the 3G network, or to just use Wi-Fi.
The original iPad featured a backlit 9.7 inch multitouch LED display and 256 MB of DDR RAM. The Wifi model weighed 1.5lbs and the 3g model 1.6lbs. The suite of environmental sensors afford comfortable use in a variety of positions and light settings. The Original iPad had no camera capabilities.
